MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Hello, TBA Members!

Did you miss me in June? Did you even notice that I was MIA? I know at least one member noticed the lack of a Presidents Message and he voiced his regret that I had no words of wisdom or great leadership to offer during trying times. I apologize for that. On the other hand, you are most welcome. I chose not to ply you with empty platitudes and here is why. Perhaps you can relate: Times are tough! I admit that it has been hard for me to write an upbeat message when the future remains uncertain. I will try to do better. In the meantime, thanks for your patience.

Several notable things did occur during the month of June. TBA regretfully accepted the resignation of Lisa Webber from the Executive Board. I want to thank Lisa for all her efforts on our behalf. After great consideration the Board asked Diana Robinson to fill the vacant position and she agreed to do so. Diana has a proven record of stepping up to the plate when help is needed. We welcome her and are thrilled to have her input on the issues that are important to us all.

Our first Lunch Time Members Meeting was well attended and got rave reviews. I want to send a big Thank You to Brian Mock and his staff at the Hampton Inn at Northlake. The food was fabulous! The room was perfect. Great Job!!! Thanks, also, to Kevin Levitas for his presentation. There is a lot going on legislatively and we appreciate his willingness to take time out to keep us up to date. Congratulations (and Happy Birthday) to Beth O’Neill and Lofty Ambitions for winning the Out of the Bag. Look for her featured spot on the TBA Web Site.

Our July Meeting will be back at Matthew’s Cafeteria on the 16th. Our friends at Hands for Hire will be our featured presenters. Hands for Hire is an extraordinary training program for adults with disabilities. In my experience, there is nothing more rewarding than giving a person who would not otherwise have one an opportunity to be a fully functioning, integral member of their community. I am really looking forward to this presentation and hope you will take full advantage of the services offered.

Finally, our membership continues to grow! We are excited to have PLAN BEE, RBC BANK and UNITED COMMUNITY BANK among our ranks. Welcome! Another canvassing event will be scheduled soon and I will be asking each member to participate. A small thing you can do is to simply bring a new person to a Members Meeting as an introduction to TBA.

Do not forget to support your co-members of TBA. Small business is hurting right now and any time you can go to your directory and utilize the services of fellow TBA Members you are truly making an impact. Just do it!
